my house has finally sold
and now our hold on it is in the final days
a dying rattling breath as a plant sprouts somewhere
and a garden left behind

goodbye, delicate apple trees
never bearing a bountiful load
and stoic pine trees, providing a place
for a young girl to learn her place in the world

the rotting dollhouses half-buried in the dirt
may one day provide purpose for a single man's future

all my life has been spent in a transitive state
neither here nor there
trying to move out just results in being sucked in further
to the confusing state that is my life

how big will the storage locker be?
big enough so that I can take my hopes and dreams with me,
I hope
