in a bleary fog from the previous night
I realized that I’d forgotten to publish a poem
but at least my language streaks are intact
thanks, spotty wifi

there are still contrived poems sitting in my archives
of angry letters to former lovers
and fantasies stolen from other people

you know, rhyming was never my friend
because I always write myself into a corner
and all of a sudden I’ve got to compare someone to a fish

let’s see how many song titles I can steal
before someone busts me
music was never really my thing, anyways>

but another unedited book sits in my storage
waiting to be released for peer review
I think I’ll let it sit for a while
and pursue a different idea before it escapes
