I once had an anchor
as strong as the sea
and whenever I needed extra support
she'd always come back to me

but one stormy night
she wanted to change her chains
from gold to a dull gray
and I said "no way"

I offered her silver
and the finest, to boot
but she unchained and sunk back
thinking she'd find loot

now I'm stuck at sea
waves rushing like collapsing shelves
and I've got to relearn
how to live for myself
