I just want to take you out for long lasting days in the city
where we can be found hiding in little dessert shops
curled up in a corner with a blanket and a napkin quickly vacated of its muffins
where we can fall asleep to the carols of generations before us

and in the evenings
we can be found wasting light in a hot tub bar
slipping into each other’s curves in the center of the sun
as all the other stars in the galaxy fall into place around us
a scrawny angel meets a seasoned demon

but right now we are trapped in a frost giant’s heart
with a shadow of a future on their way
chanting “tomorrow, tomorrow” but making no promises
when a promise that Samhain will be okay is all I ever wanted

sometimes I wish that I had handled things differently
not even the most eventful thing in my life so far is planned and detailed
but the past is immutable and changing nevermore
and I shall be a better keeper of my own scrolls
