Memories are like flowers in a field
There are so many to choose from
Some are sweet with thorns, ready to prick one who dares to touch it
Some look shriveled but hide a sweet scent in their folds

I’m lost and strange in this field
Everybody is shrieking about a revolution
About how we forgot to put the love in it
But what is loving about violence without cause
Change for the purpose of change?

I have so much light in my eyes that you can’t see
The flowers and plants grow toward me
Maybe I’m not completely useless after all
Put me up like a prop on the wall
I’ll be the sun shining above
And you can be the heart full of love

I don’t trust anything my eyes see
Because even salt looks like sugar to me
My bones are spun sugar, my tongue a sour patch
Won’t I be such a specimen to catch
