but my brain certainly wants to try
for the deal maker lurks around in my dreams
with pockets full of nightmares

the duality of man shows
at three in the morning
with stacks of books half-read in desperate attempts
to retain some sense of sanity

bleached white robes hang in my doorway
subverting a future of rituals and constant running
or a funeral veil handed in silence among pleads
planting seeds among the dark soil outside

nothing was lucid anymore
everything, including volleyball played in seventh grade
was more absurd than the entirety of Don Quixote
and with that, a princess falls from her throne
