they say that the bottom of the sea is more unknown
than the surface of the moon
and even more unknown than that
is the depth of your emotions
you cry on my shoulder at midnight
and drift to sleep at three in the morning
reminisce about the past at noon
and are madly in love again at sunrise
the saddest thing that can happen to a sacred bond
is when time and disrepair eat it away
like moths coming in the dead of night
with pincers stolen from other insects
we feel lost searching for ourselves
and memory lane feels like a foreign land
loneliness becomes out bedmate
and our city bridges crumble to ash
until I find a compass
that leads me back to your side
and you smile once more before getting up
and helping rebuild the city
