> Disclaimer: this is gonna be filled with armchair soykaf and im also not sure what im trying to say. i also am probably guilty of most of this myself but whatever.
what motivates people to act the way they do. in heavily cynical mindsets it seems like there are a few key motivators that present themselves almost anywhere you go.
im guilty of some of them and im aware of that. im guilty of some of them and im unaware of it. but i do think things would be better if we could try to become self-aware about some of these
then again thats just edgy thought. ***we live in a society*** etc etc.
fuarking sue me i guess.
## sex
lets start with the obvious. so so so many interactions people have are framed as either a means to get sex, or a means to flaunt getting sex. we have layers and layers of pseudo false-truths built on top of this, that everyone just seems to agree with because it makes it easier to do what people want to do without feeling bad. we have all these concepts like true love and romantic attraction, but peel away the layers and they're all just physical lust with a shiny coat of paint.
and its not just the people who are obviously borderline nymphos. the same people that flaunt their preference for romantic attraction are just as guilty. the people who build their personas around their apparent dismissal of physical lust are just as misguided.
the amount of anger and hatred this thinking causes astounds me. the amount of self hatred induced by having to live through this - and depending on headspace, participating in this - is mind boggling.
i truly hate it, despite being guilty of it myself.
## fame
everyone wants their own fame. we are obsessed with celebrity worship and its what most people seem to aspire to. every interaction is framed with trying to be *above* other people, to in some way be the hero of the story, the main character, in a world where every other person is trying to do the same. every conversation is a game with a winner, and nothing else.
celebrity worship makes this worse because its gives people an ***out***, no longer do they have to admit it because
> oh im not like **those** people, this is just a low-key thing.
every smaller community has the same problem. people trying to make a name for themselves, people trying to stand out.
being an observer is almost like a death sentence to them.
there are no things to put your name on that will matter past your lifetime. nothing. no science discovery, no piece of media. at most you'll be appreciated for a while after your death, and then relegated to the unpopular nerdy kids to geek out over and thats it.
fame is a scam. i hate that people aim so much for it, i hate that im guilty of wanting it to some level.
i hate a lot of it
## power
advertisments rule this world. that is a fact. its gotten so out of hand that theres not even anything we can really do about it.
every computer is comprimised and being data-mined at all times. i am sure of this.
every mobile phone is recording and taking pictures at all times, i am sure of this
that much information gives the people up the top all the power in this world, and there is nothing we can do about it.
power corrupts. that is fact.
i would like to think that given the power of a diety, i would stay an observer. i would seclude myself to an extent, and live life without worry. slowly building up my own space and slowly depressing into permanent lugubriosity.
i don't think this is true.
i would take that power and i would go on a bender of spreading anger.
and then hopefully settle down.
power corrupts, at all levels.
there is nothing we can do about it
and its what literally everyone is aiming for.
im scared of it. i really am.
## final thoughts
im in an edgy headspace. im sorry for such a shitty armchair psychology article. back to your regular non-edgy shit at a later time.
peace out.
`despondant, lugubrious, no future`
